New firmware update caused my dome 1080p to stop recording and now I cannot connect back to the app
Hey @Bwieber57 thanks for coming to the community for more information. I am sorry to hear you’re having issues after your most recent firmware update.
Are you usually using an SD card? If so, please reformat your SD card and try again.
Next, try deleting the app from your account, reset the camera, then walk through the pairing process again.
How far is the wifi router from the camera? Are you using 2.4ghz or 5ghz?
Just a few questions to help point us in the right direction hope you’re having a lovely day
I do not use an SD card although there is a slot for it on my dome camera. I am about 6 feet from the router while trying to pair on 2.4Ghz. I have deleted the app and reset the camera numerous times.
Everytime I try and pair I get as far as "waiting to connect" I then try to scan the QR code. I move the lens around, make sure it isn't obstructed and make sure I enlarge the QR code on my phone and turn the brightness all the way up.
I have two dome cameras and one is working correctly as this other one stopped loading on the app and now won't connect again.
Thanks for the info @Bwieber57
We recommend manually resetting your camera. Please follow the link below for instructions on reseting your camera. The camera is reset, please go through the pairing process again.
Yea I have reset the camera numerous times. My issue is that it dies not read the QR code upon request

@Kami_Mark Hello, sorry for the English translation. I have a yi home camera 1080p ai + that after automatically updating the firmware no longer works. I have tried updating the firmware manually but neither. The seller (yi official store) of aliexpress no longer responds to the questions, only answered that it will update firmware … The camera is under warranty.
Hello. What is the camera doing. Can you explain more in regards to what you are seeing. Thanks.
537149 Is my ticket number and I am still having issues
Hello, the camera, when turning on, speaks Chinese, when before it did in English and since then it has not been able to connect to the Wi-Fi of my house. All this without having done anything …
Hello. Could you try resetting it. It may take multiple attempts to try to reset it.
I did this but it still didn’t work. Emailed them too but no reply yet. Ticket # 540374

Hey Stephen
If he’s using his phone to connect to the camera It could be something as simple as his connection.
The cameras need to be setup using 2.4ghz Wi-Fi network.
I fell into this trap.
My iphone usually run on the 5ghz network.
Drop them down to the 2.4ghz, setup cameras.
Once they are setup and working you can go back onto the 5ghz network on your phone and view all your cameras from the Yi app
Tinkerer
This is correct @Swiftrun This will make the set up process much smoother if you connect using 2.4ghz and then change to 5ghz after connected. @dada give this a try and let us know how it all goes
I went down that rabbit hole until I remembered about the 2.4ghz setup requirements.
I believe I read somewhere that in the near future YI cameras won’t care if it’s 2.4 or 5
I could be mistaken
Good luck!
Many cameras of this type don’t like 5ghz. Although I think some Ring cameras do now like it. That said I have set up many of these types of cameras and tens of Yi cameras and never once disabled 5ghz. And all are working fine.
