Y1 camera keep looseing connection

I have 6 Y1 camera . I only use 4 of them most of the time 2 are outside well with in range of the wifi wifi is 100% at the camera 2 are inside in window with 100 % wifi signal. both inside camera are with in sight of the wifi. One of them is about 8 feet from wifi and the other is about 15 feet from wifi. The problem is they all loose connection at times. Some time just 1 sometime 2 and sometimes 3 it is real rare that they all loose connection. I have check connection and they are all on different connection. I even changed wifi providers because I thought that might be the problem. I have had 3 different wifi modems and all do the same thing. I can be using windows 10 or my iphone it still looses connection. I use Spectrum right now for internet but was using North state which is a local company. I internet is 200 which the security camera do not even slow down at all. Any help you can give would be appriated

Have you tried using a wifi extender?

@davidj1950 @3Dview I wanted to check in to see how things have progressed with your connection issues. The article shared is super helpful and can get you back online.

If you are still having the same challenges, please let me know. I will escalate this to our team for further investigation.

Hope all are doing well.

I am still having the same problem with the cameras loosing connection even when they are close to the wifi and wifi is 100%. I did everything that the article said and still drop connections at times right now 2 of them have been up all most 2 day but they do that at times sometime they go out 3 or 4 times a day and then they will stay on for 2 days before they loose connection. The wifi say it is 100% at the camera but I am thing about getting a wifi net system or booster for my system to see if that help but you can not do better then 100% at the camera. I have 4 camera and they all do it at times they all go out at different times with 100% signal at the camera when they go out the only way to get them back is to reboot them. I only us 2 most of the time. one is 8 ft. away from the wifi in the same room and it goes out . One is out side and show 100% wifi signal. 200 mb wifi from spectrum will run everything in my house and then some. I have checked power supply and wifi signal there is nothing left that I know of. Thank You for any help you can give. David

If at all possible try to plug into power that is on a different circuit.
I have one that is plugged in, in the garage. It is a new circuit and the camera went out frequently. The circuit is mainly unused except for the plugs in the garage.
I did a surge suppressor and other things but nothing helped. Didn’t do a battery backup/uninterruptable power supply (UPS).
To test the power theory I got a standard extension cord, about 20 foot I think, and ran it to a different plug that is on a different circuit and the issue has mainly stopped.

All of my camera are on different circuits and one of them is one a surge suppressor . i did that to and it did not help. I did run 1 of them off a long drop cord and it still did the same think . I ran a cord to my garage which is on a different circuit from my house and still had the same problem. I am going to try a wifi net system and see if that help I have tryed everything else I can think off. If that does not help I will try a battery backup system and run power cord from all of them to it. I used to have a battery back up at work and it worked great. Thank You For Your Help David

I have ordered one thank you for the help I will try a wifi net system if the extender help any of my camera. But I tested the wifi signal at the camera with my phone app and it say 100% . Thank you again David

@Steven_Kami , I’m having a similar problem. I cannot connect to the cameras when I’m out of the apartment but I still receive alerts form the cameras. When I’m back home checking the connectivity everything works fine and the cameras work properly. I sent an email a few days ago and I have not received any response. I hope you can help me out.

Thanks

Have you checked to see if the data is turned on your phone. Make sure it is turned on. It sounds like it is turned off. If you are connected to a wifi when you are not at home it should work. hope this helps David

Thanks for the feedback @davidj1950 Very good suggestion. Gotta love the knowledge of the forum

@scabada did you check your data settings for the app? Let us know how it goes

I have check the connection and seems to be fine. I have tried with different phones and with connection to different wifi and I always have the same problem.

Hello. When you say you have tried different wifi connections do you mean to access from your mobile device or the cameras?

If the cameras are always on the same wifi. Give the router a reboot and see if that improves. Sometimes it does improve things. Have you changed ISP or anything? Could any ports or access be blocked by the ISP or slowing down your connection?

If it is purely from your mobile device and you have attempted to use multiple networks with it. Try deleting the app and any cache that goes with it and try again.

Hey @scabada Any update? How are things going with your connection? Did you happen to see the suggestion above?

Looking forward to your response.

Hi @Steven_Kami, I have not been able to fix the problem. About @davidj1950 suggestion I’m actually connected to the wifi of the office and I can perfectly check other cameras from other locations without a problem. Is just this cameras the ones that for some reason I can’t connect to them.

About @YorkshireUser suggestion, I have not been able to reboot the router since I’m out of town.

Hey @scabada When do you return home?

I ordered a netgear orbi mesh system cover 6000 sg. feet and the problem is cured. The wifi would drop the signal for a split second at times and I was testing it one time when it did it and when it did one of my camera went down. It took a lot of testing to figure this one out and a lot of luck to be testing it at the right time. Thanks everyone davidj1950

Thanks for the update @davidj1950 mesh systems can be a little tricky. Search around the forum for Mesh networks and you’ll find other helpful information.
