Motion goes off

Hi guys
I’m having a small problem with one camera.
Maybe you’ll know the reason.
The “Motion” setting is turning “OFF” sporadically.
I do have an Activity Zone setup as well and it’s still the same when I turn the “Motion” back “ON”

Any suggestions?

What is the camera model. And when you say it’s switched off I assume you mean in the App (smart detection within in the camera settings)?

I will admit this is the first time I have read this type of event.

I assume no other person has access to your application? No one else has access to your account?

Let me know the mobile platform you are on and which app you are using.

When I open up smart detection you’ll see it’s ON and Activity Zone is ON.

Later I’ll check this setting when there’s be no Alerts and I’ll see Motion is OFF.
I turn it back ON and the Activity Zone also comes ON.

The plan is to SWAP with my other cameras location to see if the problem follows the camera.

I’m going to call it a “Gen 2” camera as it uses up to a 64gb SD card

I setup a share to my wife’s iphone.
The problem is it’s always the same camera.
She just watches

I was thinking if the problem follows the camera swap I’ll try a “hard” reset

Could you have home / away set up? Would
Mrs Swift be changing the setting without realising what the impact is?

I’ll check the away settings.
I’m 99.9% she is only viewing and not going into the settings.
I’ll check things out.
If the setting are the same with Home & Away then I’ll do the swap.

I don’t think the issue is with the camera per se, but with the application settings. How far away is it from your router and / or range extension device?

So I was on the Home settings and checked them.
Then I went to the Away screen and then checked the settings and they were identically set as the Home.

I switched back to the Home Screen and checked the Motion settings and it was “OFF”

What I’d suggest is delete the camera from your app and set it back up. Follow the prompts when you do this to reset it. But only do this if you are comfortable in executing this procedure. Some have issues doing it. I’ve done it various times and have no issues. But I don’t want things to be worse for you.

Are you using always recording since you are using an SD card or motion only?

I repeated the process
At Home and Motion is ON
Switch to Away and Motion is ON

Switch back to Home and Motion is OFF

I know my wife is using the Away function when she’s not home

So something is going on when switching from Home to Away and then back to Home

Only the one camera is switching Motion OFF when changing from Home to Away and then Home

I do not actually use the Home / Away function. I leave it on motion activation all the time and my cameras all record all the time.

May as well make my full fibre service work for its money!

I would be tempted to try not using it on both devices. There sounds to be some conflict from somewhere.

Did your wife input your account credentials or did you share the cameras?

Another thing I noticed is when I switch to AWAY
there a notification flash at the bottom of the screen that says.
Side Door Notification is ON

When I go back to the Home it asks me to “Confirm” and I get a notification saying
Side Door Notification is OFF.

When I check the Motion setting at Home it is OFF

What devices are you using? I assume you are using Kami Security System?

Try removing the app from both phones then just set it up on one phone and monitor how it works.

I’ve swapped the cameras locations
The problem travels with the one specific camera when switching from Home to Away to Home.

I’ll probably try a hard reset on that specific camera and try a manual firmware update

That is very strange. But it could be a setting inside the camera that’s ‘stuck’ something on the firmware. It is a most strange issue this one.

I reset the problem camera
When setting it up I wasn’t really paying attention but there was something about Home/Away notifications
You could select a specific camera or select All

I selected All
Guess what?
Now both Cameras Motion is switching OFF when I go from HOME to AWAY to HOME.

So I’m thinking it’s this selection process.
I’m going to reset the camera again.

When it comes to that selection I’m selecting none

Yeah it does sound like it. You don’t need to reset the camera I don’t think to modify that.

But I guess if you do you know it’s completely reset to factory.

I’ve reset the camera
But that damn screen doesn’t pop up now :joy:

Also, it’s only showing one camera now even though both are working.

The pic shows in Away Mode
Dog Pen notification is ON

I click on Home Mode and as soon as it transfers to Home
Dog Pen notification is OFF

I just need to location that notification setting for the Home/Away function

I’ll keep plugging away
