ADS in Kami Home & Yi Home, is this true?

Is there a way to return the product? It is rendered unusable, I do not get notification that my baby is crying, I get notification about ads. This is not freemium product, we paid for the device and it is not doing what it is supposed to do. I will not provide video of my child to cloud.
This is an extortion technique.
Kami answer: “You wanna use the product you bought from us? Then we have exclusive offer for you: send us your baby video stream and pay for it as well!”

Your advertisements are a f’in joke. They come up as a notification as if an alarm has been triggered. You have ‘bricked’ your own product. Appalling strategy for any business. Constant spam instead of security. Shame on you!

Yi’s app is sending push notification advertisements several times a day. This persists even with a subscription. I tried to make my own topic a while ago but it looks like it was not posted due to moderator approval. This is really disappointing.

Yi and Kami Home apps are now delivering 35 Ads to my wife’s phone before she can view the cameras. As the owner of the cameras I have a subscription but it seems this doesn’t stretch to anyone you share your cameras with. This is daylight robbery and I will do everything in my power to remove Yi and Kami from my home and business.

Das ist echt das letzte, obwohl ich ein aktives Abo habe bekomme ich erst Werbung wenn ich in die App gehe. Ich montiere diesen Schrott jetzt auch von der Wand und sehe mich nach alternativen um.

I’ve been using the Yi cameras for a few years.

Once the summer weather comes I’ll be changing out my Yi cameras for another brand due to the annoying ads that start before I can open any cameras.
I don’t have a subscription I use SD cards.
The ads that come up are making my Yi experience a disappointment now.

I have started to replace all my yi cameras to tp-link tapo. No ads, better wifi range, plenty to choose from. And support for third party software. Have already been setting these up for my friends and guided them to stay away from yi/kami. Best decision ever.

It looks like Yi has released a firmware update which stopped the push notification ads. I noticed all of my detection settings were reverted and now I am no longer getting constant ads.

My burglar alarm went off when I wasn’t home. The monitoring company contacted me. I tried to get to my YI cameras on my i-phone to see if it was real or a false alarm. I got a bunch of ads blocking my ability to get to my cameras, stupid video games blocking the entire screen… It took quite a while to get through the ads. I’m going to trash all my YI cameras and go with another camera company.

It’s fk…g joke. I have to go through and wait for they to finish advertising before I can access to my videos. Now, I am pretty sure those 6 cameras will go to the trash. I am shopping for alternatives.

I reached out in the app on my phone and asked them to remove the ad’s and they responded back they would have it done within 48 hours. I will see tomorrow if they actually do it. I only have 3 camera’s and I can easily replace them with zumimall or another brand and spread the word that Kami is garbage with their ad trolling.

Ads suddenly starded popping up on my app. I have 8 cameras with SD cards and do not want or need a subscription. If this is their way of forcing me to subscribe, it will back fire. Already looking at other platforms… Very dissappointed.

How did you find a way to contact them on the app?

The funny thing is if you guys go to Account - App Setting and look at “Opt out launch screen promotion” is already checked.

I am personally going to make sure every blog , forum and review site is aware that these cameras are absolute garbage after they started putting ads in the app , and no I dont want or need a subscription service , they are totally useless now, I need fast access to my cameras to see what’s going on! I would like a refund for the cameras I have because any company that’s willing to pull this cannot be trusted. They are all being replaced

I actually had to check on my settings to see that option because I didn’t recall it being there before. Of course I turned it off, then restarted the app and immediately got an unskippable ad for a video game.

Yes me too and advicing people not to buy this brand cameras in the future, i am also texting all my suppliers not to buy this brand with ads

Yes lets do a collective diffusion to warn people about buying this cameras, i would acept if we were buying only the app but we already paid for hardware this is abusing behvior

We are all on here complaining hoping they remove the ads. Unfortunately any of us who have invested some money in this product may lose the money. However, once everyone abandons this product they will lose their entire business. Sam Walton once said “the customer can fire the entire company from the CEO on down by simply taking their business elsewhere.” It’s time to do that. After 10 years and several cameras there seems to be no other option for me. Yi / Kami you have failed and now you are fired!
