ADS in Kami Home & Yi Home, is this true?

Please let me know what happens because I reached out to him as well. I don’t remember signing up for any ads. Or religious ads. You can’t see anything until they get through. It’s ridiculous. Get rid of these ads

Right Kami this is getting beyond a fucking Joke I’ve purchased 3 cameras and my world of home security was great , untill you guy’s fucked it up with adverts and cloud banging , I’ve got SD cards inserted and they absolutely do fine , now when I get an alert it take an eternity to view the fucker nicking my car , because I’m hammered with pointless ad’s that i cant navigate round , no wonder my fucking face looks like a baboons arse , do the right thing and fuck them right off the app and give the customer back they’re security

The problem with adds that block you from reviewing what is going on when receiving notification is unlikely to go away. It has been a problem for very long time with only response of Kami is offering to subscribe and pay for each camera. I had 11 Kami cameras. I removed them all replacing them with Google Nest cameras. Google cameras are more expensive but you pay one subscription/Dollars amount regardless how many cameras you have. But Google Nest cameras have no SD slots.
You can use TP-Link Tapo cameras. All have SD cards. No adds even when you do not have cloud subscription. I said good bye to Kami,

I’m going to have to look into what kind of cameras you got. Because the ads are blocking me when I’m reviewing and what’s going on when I receive the notification. Even law enforcement which watches my neighborhood I can’t get them to see on my camera because the ads keep blocking everything.

FUCK yi home. no ads fucker

I got this also.

People, do what I did. Go to amazon and leave the reviews. I have seen that many reviewers alread did.

Today is a special day for me, I have had 5 indoor cameras and 1 outdoor for several years. All recording with SD cards. Over the last 3 years KAMI or YI or whoever they are have tried pestering and nagging us for the subscriptions…over time making it harder and harder to simply use the cameras with SD cards. We are now at the point where the cameras are unusable. With adds and redirects constantly in the way the product is useless. So a very special goodbye from me as I have just installed TAPO cameras and I was so disgusted with KAMI I shoved them all in the bin. Farewell and good luck all… (oh and please no message saying “hey! would you like a subscription at 30% off?” - you can f*ck right off)

Oh, I am totally agree with you.FUCK yi home camera. I will sue them because they delay my emergency alerts.

Don’t be so nice. FUCK yi home. Stop stupid ads.

Yes, FUCK yi home. stop stupid ads. If there is an emergency I will sue them for delay the view.

I was fairly used to the old ads that you could just click away. But now there are ads that you can’t close at all in order to watch your footage! The only thing that sometimes works is completely closing the app and trying again, and sometimes a little cross appears to close the ad.

This makes the cameras almost unusable. So has no one managed to get rid of the ads?

FUCK you yi home, stop stupid ads.

They just ignored us. Do what I did. Go to amazon and bombarded them with bad reviews.
I replaced them all with Tapo cams. Very happy.

fuck yi home . Stop stupid ads. camera alerts are emergency alerts not regular game apps. I will sue yi home if the alerts delay my viewing and causing harm and damages. stop stupid ads.

I totally agree. I’m going to throw all of mine cameras in the trash. These cameras are the worst who wants to deal with pop-up ads when you have something serious or you need to see something on your cameras. I hate this brand now, I will never buy them again.

Fuck Yi home.
I am not going to be nice.
FUCK yi home.

Recent reports and customer feedback suggest that Yi Home cameras have significantly declined in performance and user experience, largely due to issues with their mobile app and subscription model. While older models were once considered good for their low cost, their current state has led many users to label them a “failure,” though the product line was never explicitly marketed with “fall protection”.

A specific “fall protection camera” from Yi Home could not be found through recent searches, but Yi’s general camera reliability and software problems are well-documented. Many of the issues are related to the company’s shift in business practices rather than hardware failure.

Reasons for user dissatisfaction

  • Intrusive ads: Recent updates to the free app have added mandatory, 30-second-long video ads that play every time you try to view a live feed or check an alert. For emergency use, this delay makes the cameras functionally useless.
  • Subscription-locked features: Core features that were once free, such as viewing motion-activated clips and accessing footage on a microSD card, are now reportedly hidden behind a mandatory and costly subscription paywall.
  • Motion detection inaccuracy: Customers report that the AI-based motion detection is unreliable, often failing to detect people while mistakenly alerting users to things like flying insects or moving branches. In some cases, alerts for people are missed entirely.
  • Poor app and connectivity: Reviewers and users complain of poor app performance, including long buffering times to access live streams and choppy, pixelated video feeds.
  • Non-existent customer support: Multiple user reviews on sites like Trustpilot and the Better Business Bureau mention a lack of responsive customer service and difficulty canceling subscriptions.

Alternatives to Yi Home

Due to these widespread issues, many sources, including the review site SafeWise, recommend avoiding Yi and its sister brand, Kami, entirely. Better alternatives with more reliable features and better pricing models include:

  • Wyze: A strong budget-friendly option that offers better performance and customer support.
  • Eufy: Provides reliable cameras with a focus on local storage options and no mandatory subscription fees.
  • TP-Link (Tapo): Another budget-friendly brand offering reliable cameras and local storage.

These ads are not only intrusive but pose a serious security issue. Not being able to quickly get to my camers may result in injury or property damage. We should get an attorney and start a class action lawsuit.
