I received notification stating that Yi Home app is going to be retired and download Yi Life. However, I am not able to find the app in Huawei App Gallery. Kindly advise.
Hello I will loop in @Steven_Kami to advise as I was not aware that Yi Home was to be deprecated on the platform you mention. Also I have been able to locate āYi Lifeā on a Samsung device so I wonder if it is something to do with the device brand you are using.
Hi there, thanks for following up. However, itās Huawei App Gallery and not Samsung. FYI, Huawei phones do not have Google Play Store.
I have the same issueā¦I use Yi Home and as of Friday, every time I start the APP, it tells me I have 14 days to switch over but the āYi Lifeā APP does not exist (or I canāt find it in the apple store)
I use an Apple iPhone.
What location are you in and what brand of cameras are you using? I also have access to iOS devices and use Yi Home and not getting this message.
Where and when do you see this message ?
Yeah aware how it works with Huawei hence why I mentioned I had found it on a Samsung device running Android.
What region are you in? This switch over seems to be region specific or it could be some faulty code.
It may be worth contacting Yi support.
Have you checked if there is an update to Yi Home app?
US and I use the US version cameras, although my Yi Home account (location is Hong/Kong (China)). I get the same message on accounts (where the location is setup in both US and China) because I thought this was a Hong/Kong thingā¦
Itās a pop-up when I start the Yi Home iOS APP (canāt miss it.)
Iāve been trying to contact support about another issue for about a month now with no luck. I tried an update today but there hasnāt been one for at least several weeks.
Thanksā¦I am NOT planning on making any changes because I canāt. Support just contacted me about something else and told me they were having a hard time responding because of the pandemic.
What brand of cameras are you using? Iām in the uk - my account is set to the EU and my cameras are Yi brand but Iām not getting this message on my Yi home app.
I do wonder if itās something to do with the Hong Kong region you have set.
I was thinking the same so I created a new Yi account and set the location up as āUnited States of Americaā and did not SEE any cameras I had set up and more importantly was unable to āshareā them from the previous working āHong Kong/Chinaā account. The āHong Kong/Chinaā account did not SEE the new account I created in āUnited States of Americaā and I got āuser not foundā when I tried to share them so I think I set up the new account correctly.
I got that same message about the Yi Life replacing Yi Home APP when I log into the NEW account I created with a location of the āUnited States of Americaā so it canāt be a region issue unless itās both of those regions.
That doesnāt change that fact I cannot find the iOS APP āYi Lifeā in either the US or China stores.
Iām not going to say I havenāt screwed something up because I originally purchased the āHong/Kongā cameras which ONLY work with a different iOS APP from āHong/Kongā and I still use those (I hacked them to work in the US) but finally decided to switch over and use the correct cameras/APP made for the US. I still use the 2 separate iOS APPs and they both work for their respected cameras. Beginning around last Thursday-Saturday, I got the message about Yi Life replacing Yi Home for BOTH accounts; the new one created with a location of "United States of Americaā and the original one create years ago with the location created as āHong Kong/China.ā Never got this message for the āHong Kong/Chineseā iOS APP I used originally.
Yi has some serious issues with different regions because I should be able to use any Yi camera with any Yi iOS APP. There is also a third camera for āInternationalā which has many of the same problems and adds a third layer. Yi realized this issue years ago and removed the restraint that Hong Kong/Chinese cameras would only work in China so I donāt have to āhackā those Hong Kong/Chinese cameras for them to work in the US anymore. Confused yet?
That must be region specific. It will need Yi to comment more. Iām in the EU region and not getting this. But seen other reports of users in Asia getting this message also.
Correct @YorkshireUser, this is region-specific. only applicable for those who live and use their OS system under the APAC region. regarding the issue from TDP above, I am checking it with the team to get back with the right solutions.
