Recently noticed that when running the PC app it is using about 20% disk activity constantly. Disk activity drops to idle when the app is closed. This does not seem normal. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling with latest version and it did not help.
Any suggestions?
When you using a program on your PC (e.g. YI Home PC App, other programs) it is normal to use a hard disk usage and it will goes back to normal the program is closed. You may try to run check disk to check if there are any physical problems with your hard drive.
I understand that programs normally have some disk usage when they are running. But 20% constantly for one program seems excessive and is not behavior I have noticed before with the Yi windows app. There are no issues with the disk. As a test I installed the Yi app on another PC with a clean and fully updated Windows 10 install and no other software installed and while running Yi was using 15% disk activity. When the app was closed, disk activity dropped to less than 1%.
I investigated a bit further and found that the app is constantly writing and deleting a file in the following path:
C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\YIHomePCClientIntl\users\272525\alertmsg
The file being written and deleted is alertmsg.db-journal
This 5 KB file is being written and deleted every second.
Is this normal for the Yi app?
