YI home camera - Static noise

We’ve had two YI home cameras in our house for about two months now and when I go to a live feed or even an alert, as soon as I turn up the volume all we hear is static. One camera points outside which I’m not worried as much about but our indoor camera a clear sound is definitely needed. Any ideas or help?

@Patrick please check this problem out

Hi,

@bastewart77 In order for me to troubleshoot your cameras noise issue, please let me know which camera models you have? Is your camera firmware up to date? To verify, from the app home screen, click on the hexagon symbol inside your camera thumbnail. Then click on Camera Settings. Under Firmware Version, click Upgrade if the camera firmware is not up to date. I’m assuming the one camera that is facing outside is placed outdoors. Is that correct? I figured that because you mentioned your indoor camera needs to have a clear sound. Please let me know.

Hello… We have the YI 1080p AI indoor cameras. Both make the static noise. The one we are using for the outside is placed on the window sill and it just covers our cars. The other one is in our living room but both again have the static noise which makes it pointless to have if we are using these to pick up noise. I checked the the firmware and it is updated as well. Thank you.

Hi,

@bastewart77 Regarding the static noise issue with your two YI 1080p AI cameras, please contact our customer support at support@yitechnology.com to further address this matter. Please reference with ticket #434581.

I also am having the static issue with all 4 of my cameras and the whole idea of me purchasing them was to have an intercom system with my family while I can not be present. This is unacceptable and I have tried EVERYTHING to get the static noise to stop and even followed previous instructions provided on this and other forums. Please advise if this technical malfunction and I need to return the equipment and request new working models.

Hi @Georgi thanks for joining the forum. Sorry to hear your having trouble with your cameras. I just sent you a private message to get some contact details so I can create a support request ticket for you.

Hello,
I can only write about the model: https://www2.yitechnology.com/yi-1080p-home-camera-2.
Home camera 2 has noise from mic to speaker due to cable too close to another circuit, you have to open the cam, and make space from mic cable to baseboard.

I also have a YI indoor Home 1080p camera that I recently purchased and the audio is static right out of the box. The firmware is up to date according to the app at 8.2.0.0A_202007211802. I’ve also made sure the camera is not mounted anywhere near any sources of electrical interference. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, I have 3 cameras at home

  • 02 Yi home 1080p
  • 01 Yi home 1080p 2

The product which is supposed to be better in terms of quality/more expensive (the Yi Home 1080p 2 - model: YHA.2116.INT) is returning the static noise since I opened the box.

For a while it wasn’t bothering me as I was not listening to any live interaction, but now that I need to listen and recording it it is really frustrating. I tried to move the camera to other places (all indoor) with no success.

The firmware is up to date (2.1.1_20171024151200) and I really need a help from you guys on what to do. Could you open a ticket to get it fixed somehow?

Thank you
Rodrigo

I’m facing the exact same issue. I have bought two YI dome x y30 https://kamihome.com/yi-dome-x-y30 and out of the box they are playing static.

I’m opening a ticket with a video fragment.

Hi, I’ve bought myself a 2pack YI Home 1080p cameras (model:YYS.2016, SN: 9Y20GAEUW090xxxxx, date:2020.10) my brother did the same but I think from some other seller (his model is also YYS.2016, SN: BY21GAEUW090xxxxx , date: 2020.09). My BOTH cameras have the same problem with microphone audio - i hear a constant crackling sound which makes it useless for intercom or just hearing what’s going on. They’ve been updated to the latest firmware: 8.2.0.0A_202007211802, I’m using IOS app. It is not the problem of my phone or app because when I’ve pared one of my brother’s cameras it worked perfectly fine on my phone/app no noise or cracking sounds with perfectly clear audio. I did notice however his camera’s firmware (also up to date) version is different (9.0.19.02_202007141512) although both of our cameras seems identical model they use different firmwares which is odd… I really need audio to be working without any issues. Please advise what is wrong as resetting them or restarting or even moving to another location is not resolving the issue :frowning:

Can you help me with this issue aswell @Kami_Mark.

It is a very simple problem. just open the case and with a little stick put far the little mic cable from other cables. You need only patience. Motherboard is good, it is only a problem triggered by little cable. Try before pack it up.

Hey @Razankab Thanks for coming to the community forum! I am sorry to hear that your baby is being bothered by the static noise. That is definitely not ideal. We’re meant to bring peace of mind not, annoy!

Have you contacted our support team yet at www.kamihome.com/contact? It may be that the camera needs to be replaced.

Once you have a ticket number, or if you already do, can you please send it to me here?

Many thanks for your patience. We will get this fixed and your baby back to good nights rest!

Same problem here, bought 4 and the same static noise in all of them.

The only way to solve it is opening the camera and moving the mic cable??

I dont want to lose my warranty…

Hey @Moym Let me also ask do you have any smart wifi plugs in the home?

Hi, I don’t think you lose your warranty just for moving the internal microphone cable by three millimetres.
