Yi Dome X connecting issue

I have just received my new dome X cameras but can’t get them to connect in the app.

I have gone through the connect camera steps and got pairing successful announcement from the cameras but the cameras don’t appear in the app. What am I doing wrong?

I already have 2 igeek cameras connected in the app so don’t want to reset it if I don’t have to.

Hello.

Can you confirm which app you are using. Ideally you should be using either Yi Home or Kami Home for Yi/Kami branded cameras.

Can you also confirm how far away you are attempting to set up the camera from your router.

Is your phone you are using on the same network. Please ensure only the 2.4ghz wifi is broadcasting and that the phone and camera is linked to such.

Please have location turned on for your phone and that the app does have access to this.

Thanks.

I am using Yi OT app. I have tried several times including the camera place beside the router.

I will try again checking that location on the phone is on.

Thanks for your swift response.

My understanding is that Yi/Kami branded cameras requires either Yi Home or Kami Home and not the Yi IOT app.

Thanks downloaded the Yi home app and camera are there. Thank you for your help.

My older cameras that were connected to the old app don’t have the control tab along the bottom of the screen. So I can’t turn these. Is this a firmware issue or do they need reset and connected directly the home app rather than automatically being added through the account.

Cameras are a bit pointless if they can’t be moved. Will stop using Yi if they don’t backward compatible cameras/apps as they release new products all the time so is difficult to continue buying the same cameras.

What do you mean re the control - can you not pan the new X camera with the Yi app?

Also I find Yi support well the cameras but isn’t the brand you mentioned before not a propriety Yi brand? I don’t think the non Yi brand camera will pair with Yi Home app.

If you have a screen grab of the app which doesn’t show the cursor option.

Just checked your other cameras are ieGeek ( GLOBALEDA GROUP(HK) LTD ) and therefore not Yi cameras, so must just make use of the Yi IOT like other manufacturers do. A bit like how fitness tracking devices use a single app for many brands.

The menus on the old cameras igeek, are different to the Yi ones. Probably due to the brand. I may just need to use both apps rather than just the one.

There is no device option along the bottom to get the pan menu up.

That is strange why the Yi Dome X is not showing you the control menu along the menu bar.

If you maximise the camera picture on live view do you get the cursor option (looks like compass).

Could you try that. But it is very strange not to have that option.

Hey @qscout Welcome to the community! As you can see, a great place to come for help tips, troubleshooting info, or meet other Yi/Kami users.

The camera is new so I do have a couple of concerns. Plus you have other cameras working fine so this isn’t new to you or doesn’t seem to be connection issues

From what I’ve heard so far, I recommend removing the cameras from your account, reseting, then walking thru the pair process again. That will help us understand what to do next if the problem persists.

Please let us know how it goes! Hope all are having a lovely Friday before the holiday weekend!

Thanks everyone for your swift responses.

I have the new Yi Dome X cameras showing on the Yi Home app and have them fully operational.

I think YorkshireUser got it spot on, the other 2 cameras arent Yi cameras, and as they are linked to my Yi account show up in the home app, but cannot be operated from it. I tried to connect them to the Home app directly rather than linked through the account and it won’t allow them to connect.

I am guessing therefore that as they are 3rd party cameras, this isn’t possible to do so I will just have to keep both apps on my phone, and in future make sure to buy Yi cameras.

Thanks for all your help.

Yes you have summarised your position cleanly there.

thanks for clarifying. You def cannot sync 3rd party cameras with the Yi Home app.

Hope you’re having a good day and good luck!
