When I remove the power from the camera and put it back on, the camera returns to the default position. Is there an option for the camera to remember the last position it was in and when I turn off the power and put it back on, it returns to the position it was in?

Do you see the bookmarks tab at the bottom menu selection after you click the thumbnail for the camera? You can save bookmarked positions so after the power reset, you can get your camera back to the desired position.
