Real Estate Sales | Access to Public

Hello Community,

I have a real estate listing in NY and we are looking to livestream a feed of the vacant apartment as we are unable to conduct inspections.I was looking to find out if it is possible to give access to the cameras for people to view? Either by link, password or other?

Thank You

Duncan

Hi,

@beerwithduncan Yes, the account owner of the cameras can grant access to others to view a live stream of the camera as well as other permissions if enabled by the account owner. Please refer to this link. https://help.yitechnology.com/hc/en-us/articles/360010802913-Sharing-Your-Camera-With-Friends-and-Family.

Hi @beerwithduncan, welcome to our Community! Certainly, you can share the feed with others through a QR code that they’d scan in our app or by inviting them via email once they have the account. Many of our customers use our cameras to monitor second properties, you surely won’t be disappointed.

Is there not another way in which one can share a camera. For example with my business I would like to share the live feed with the general public or our followers from Facebook and Instagram! It would be very useful to share a live feed so that they can see into daily life in our business!!! Social media etc is everything these days!!!

We’re looking into the best practice for this and will let you know shortly!

Hey, @MilkinMore. What I do is I use this Google chrome extension (assuming you are using chrome as your browser) called “Facebook Screen Sharing” to have the YI Home desktop client shared to Facebook live which then allows your audience to see what your Kami/YI home camera feed.

A couple of limitations on Facebook live:

1. Facebook only allows 6 or 8 hours of continuous live-stream I think this is fine even with this limitation, what you can do is sizzle the live-stream, make posts like, "We will be live on Sunday and everybody is invited for viewing of the best homes that could be your next home! There are so many ways to play around with this concept. Maybe make it a regular 1 hour live-stream show, daily or weekly, up to you.

2. YI Home App will go idle or paused if not viewed from your screen, example, hidden or your computer is on idle mode.
(You can have a dedicated guy to ensure that they check on the app regularly and not allow it to go idle ;p)

Here are the steps and you can try it:

  1. Install Google chrome extension: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/facebook-screen-sharing/ncfpggehkhmjpdjpefomjchjafhmbnai

  2. Open Facebook and set up a LIVE post. (Use the legacy dashboard of Facebook LIVE and not the new one, should look the same as the image below) and click “Share Screen”

  3. Launch YI Home App desktop client (which by the way you can now view up to 9 cameras), if you don’t have it yet, download it here (Win/Mac): https://www.yitechnology.com/firmware/

  4. A new window will pop and select Application Window and select YI Home Camera

  5. Back on your Facebook LIVE post draft, you should now see the YI Home Camera screen on stand by. (you can also hide the other cameras from the left side panel by entering your YI/Kami Home App to full screen mode)

  6. Hit “Go Live” which is at the bottom right corner.

  7. You’re all done!

Special note:
You can try OBS as well which will allow you to add graphics like company logo (animated or static), CTAs, etc on the live feed screen. This allows you to a more professional looking live-stream.

Cheers!

Pleasure is mine. In a nutshell, you just install the chrome extension, set up livestream on social media channel, launch YI Home Camera PC client and Go Live.
