Motion section not working

I have the yi 1080 home camera 2. Its only 2 weeks old and motion dection has stopped working. I can walk or stand in front of it and it won’t pick me up, I tried waving my hand in front of it still nothing.

I did a reset and new install and it still won’t work also firmware is up to date. Please help.

Hey @kopiq Thanks for coming to the forum for some guidance. We have a couple of quick questions to help point the team in the right direction.

What app version do you have?
What is your phone operating system?
What version firmware do you have?
Is motion detection remaining on or turning off>?

Thanks for your help to get us started. Hope you’re having a lovely day.

App version 5.0.0_20210828
Phone os is moto g fast
Firmware is 9.0.36.02_202105081647
Motion detection and person dectection are always on and never turn off by itself.

I’m wondering because I use to have tons of false positives and only a couple true positives it now does nothing even if I wave my hand in front of it.

It seems to be working now it picked my wife up and myself at different times today. What could be causing this issue?

Hey @kopiq I am getting a little back and forth between tickets, lets keep all on one ticket for continuity

Are you using activity zones for your camera?
How long after the false alert are you testing motion detection?
What is your frequency level? Try to lower it if set to high.

We will get this figured out.

Ok please respond to this thread, I posted another because I dident think it got posted I could not find the thread.

I have the whole screen activated for the hot zone
I test camera with motions sometimes hours after false positive.
My frequency is set to high as I wasn’t getting any notifications

Today it has started working better but I find a delay in picking up motion is the camera in sleep mode?

Hey @kopiq Usually delays in motion detection are related to connection issues. How far away from the router is the camera? Whats your internet connection like?

About 6 feet away fast cable. It seems to be working better the last couple days with the new interface. How often does it go offline for non cloud members?

It shouldn’t go offline in general. Again, that leans towards some sort of connection issue if its going offline. In terms of motion detection frequency for non cloud vs cloud subscribers, non cloud subscribers are subject to a cool down period after motion alerts. Cloud subscribers are not subject to the same cool-down restrictions as non subscribers. And, it is dependent on the camera model, battery powered cameras still have a cool down period because of extended battery life.

Lets monitor for the next couple of days. Keep us posted if anything changes drastically.

Great, thanks for all the help, will keep updated here.
