Memory Limitation

Hey Gang

Just curious if anyone has pushed the SD memory card limitations past 64gb?
It’s currently what I use in my cameras and was thinking about trying a 128gb card just because they make them.

Has anyone ever tried a larger SD card like this and if you did,
Was there an error message?
We’re you able to format the card?

Just curious

Thanks
B

Hello pal.

I personally stay in the recommendation of the manufacturer to the camera. I guess in theory you could try (mine are up to 64gb only some are up to 128gb).

I guess you could try but if it doesn’t I guess it shouldn’t harm the device. But just the bank balance as doing Amazon will return an open SD card.

Let us know what you try and what happens. And I have a feeling you will be buying one you seen the type to like to ‘tinker’ as we put it over in the United Kingdom.

Thanks for the info.
Oh yeah, I like to tinker.
I also “Frankenstein” solar lights for fun.
I once had a solar light I was playing around with that wasn’t charging.
So I decided to wait until the battery discharged.
Well after three days the light was still on.
So I took a drastic step, I put the lamp in a dark closet so there was no way for the battery to recharge.
I kept looking in the closet at that lamp to go out.
Finally one day I opened the closet and the lamp was off.
That took only 43 days!!!
Now mind you the lamp wasn’t overly bright after a couple weeks but it was still ON.

I was determined to wait it out!:rofl::rofl:

By the way, the problem was a defective solar panel.
I could have figured it out 42.5 days earlier but I thought WTH, let’s have fun

Getting back to the memory limitations.
It’s my understanding and I did read this about the two pack YI Outdoor Security Cameras that they were Generation 2 and the 64gb SD cards work.
I just like pushing the envelope

I’m not sure if you bought a high storage SD card what damage could happen. Try it and if it doesn’t get seen or work correctly all your have lost is USD20. Unless of course the seller allows you to return it.

It would be interesting to see if they would accept higher capacity cards.

Have a tinker.
