Kami Not Recording Properly

Just purchased the Kami Wireless camera and it’s using an SD card, but I can only record 6 seconds clips, even though under Recording Duration, I have it set to 15 seconds.

Suggestions on how to fix would be appreciated.

Hey Dale, thanks for joining the forum!

The free cloud service that comes standard with the Kami Wire-Free Outdoor Camera allows you to view 6-second video clip that are stored for 7 days from the record date. If you wish to save longer recordings you have the option to subscribe to a premium YI Cloud plan or install a MicroSD into the camera. For both options the clip length can be extended to a maximum of 60 seconds.

As stated above, I do have an SD card installed, but I still can’t record more than 6 seconds. Is the camera defective?

Dale

I am having the same issue. Have formatted the card per suggestions to no avail…

Hi Dale, I’m sorry for misreading your first post.

What I think might be happening is you are only viewing the 6 second alert clips.

To view the 60 second clips you need to click on the live view of the camera. Then a timeline will appear just below. You can then scroll to see the 60 second length clips (shown by the orange boxes). Below is a video that will walk you through this.

Hey Bobski, welcome to the forum! Please try everything that I mentioned above and let me know how you get on.

Thanks!

Yes, I’ve done that as well. On your indoor camera the orange block expands to show the relative length of the clip, but on the Kami, it doesn’t do that so I can only see 6 seconds.

Hey Dale, thanks for giving me some more information. Have you tied the ‘pinch to zoom’ gesture on the timeline with your fingers to zoom in on the orange blocks?

I’ve been doing some testing with my Kami Wire-Free Outdoor Camera where I move around for a minute in front of the camera to create a 60 second motion detection event and I was able to see the full length recording in the SD Card area.

Can you please try and set your camera to the maximum recording time (60 seconds) and do a test like the one I described?

Just did the test by setting the duration to 60 seconds and the orange got a little bigger but not by much. Also, the pinch-to-zoom doesn’t work.

Hi,

@dzjc01 @Bobski What type of microSD cards are you both using? Please send a description of the SD card and a screenshot showing the SD card. The compatible SD card for the Kami Wire-Free Outdoor camera is an 8-64 GB microSD, class 10, FAT32 formatted.

Is the camera firmware up to date? Is the app version up to date?
What is the phone make and model that you are both using? What OS version are your phones currently running?

Please let me know.

Hi, I am having the same problem.
I have had my Yi camera for a year and the time line has worked fine.
Over the last 6 weeks it has disappeared and all I can see are the alerts even though I am Still using the same phone
The SD card has been working fine.
I think a recent firmware update must have deleted the option?
Bernie

Hi,

@Bernie I see you mentioned you are receiving Alerts and your microSD card is working fine. You then said, “Over the last 6 weeks it has disappeared.” Please explain what you are referring to?

Hi Patrick
When in the live screen previously I could pinch the screen and the time line at the bottom would come up.
Now pinching doesn’t nothing and you can’t see anything that has happened other than the current point in time.
AllI have now is an option to zoom in which is not a lot of use.
Regards

Hi,

Thank you for providing this screenshot and explaining the issue. To further troubleshoot this matter, please provide the phone model (iPhone/Android), phone OS, app type (YI/Kami Home) and app version (found in the app under Discover > About).
