How close must object be before recording is triggered?

I have a wireless outdoor camera. Possibly the camera is not set correctly, however it appears that the video recording is not triggered until the moving object is quite close to the camera. I want to start recording when someone is approaching my driveway on the sidewalk that has direct line of sight to the camera. I am not finding details on the distance between object and camera before the recoding starts. Any ideas?

Hi @jplove88 thanks for joining the forum. For the Kami Wire-Free Outdoor Camera the motion detection is very reliable at a range of 15 feet or less. It may still capture motion from further out, however from my own testing it is not as consistent. Setting up the camera so that people have to walk across the field of view, rather than directly toward the camera also helps.
