Hello, I dug out my Yi dome camera which i haven’t used for a while.I used to record onto SD card and watch playback.
Now it doesn’t seem to work. When i press record the red light flashes, but when i close the app the recording stops. I have tried 2 sd cards with no success. There is no mention of storage or sd card in the settings,.When i watch the 6 second clip of motion detection and tap ’ watch super long clip ’ it reverts to live stream, can anyone tell where the problem lies, thank you kindly
Hey @foggy33 I am sorry to hear about the issue you’ve had with SD recording since bringing out your Dome camera.
Can you check to see that you have the most updated version of the Yi Home App? You can also try out Kami Home App. This may resolve the issue. Login to the Kami Home App with your Yi Home App credentials. If this continues, can you send us a screenshot of what you’re seeing in the app? Many thanks.
And, welcome to the community! Thanks for joining
Hello @Steven_Kami, I seemed to have had some success, the problem appears to be with the SD cards, I had a feeling one was dodgy, but he other was removed from a working dashcam. On using yet another card things have so far returned to normal. I will buy another SD card and try that. I appreciate your speedy reply, fingers crossed my camera is working
Fingers crossed here!
Good luck and let us know if there is anything else we can do to help
Hi again, I tried a new SD card with not much luck, the camera only records when there is motion. I believe the reason for no continous recording is the camera is too far away from the router, it is in the garage I previously said i thought things had returned to normal, but that too only recorded with motion.Turning motion off in settings results in no recordings at all.
I will try the kami app
To check this.
Within the App navigate through to the following and if you will copy and paste the results here (or screen grab it)
-
Open up the camera so you get a love updated view
-
Tap ‘Settings’
-
Within in Network section tap on ‘Info’ (your connected to Wifi name should be displayed here)
It would be interesting to see if you are getting packet loss and the wifi strength.
Personally I don’t think this would prevent continuous recording to SD card.
How far away from your router is the camera?
Have you tried the camera closer to the router? How does it work when closer?
And interference to the camera?
What grade of SD card are you using brand and class?
I have a one camera which is some distance from my router and it records fine to SD card continuous with no issues.
We can help you here though so I how we can get your camera working fully.
Thanks for the reply YorkshireUser, the camera is working ok now thanks. I installed a powerline booster ner the camera and it is recording all the time. The camera is situated in an integral garage and I believe too far from the router, although the booster is not in the garage it has done the trick. Many thanks for helping
Ah an integral garage it could be the installation in those walls for safety reasons that could be reducing the signal quality. Pleased you got it working though.
