cannot get kami doorbell to ring inside house w chime connector

1. when i connect the new kami doorbell to the outside wires that were connected to the current door bell the new one (kami) does ring inside my house.

however, the position of the outside wiring does not work well for installation so i will not be using the outside wiring.

2. when i connect the kami chime connector device to my mechanical chimes (see pic attached) rather than using the wiring from the old doorbell - it does not ring inside the house.

i have attached pic of my mechanical chimes. i cannot find the name of the manufacturer.

any suggestions would be truly appreciated.
