I can’t believe that we are now getting ads on security cameras! Did we not pay for these cameras & memory cards? This was NOT part of the sales pitch! I don’t want to pay for a subscription and I can understand if it’s added to new users but to shove these ads down our throats after we bought these cameras is disgusting. I have 5 of these cameras and just went back & changed all my reviews to one star and said why. We should all do the same! If my camera goes off I shouldn’t have to watch an ad video while stressing who set off the camera! This is a disgusting move! Will bad mouth these cameras & software going forward and will never buy or recommend it to anyone !

Ironically BCH208 I was thinking the same thing the other day and was concerned over the massive increase in promotional emails and banners on the apps every time you open it or press a feature (actually rendering it useless). I then went to the Kami and YI websites and was even more concerned they had Christmas promotion and looking like no products listed/available and assets missing with several 404 errors and the YI website itself no longer functional - interesting too that despite heavenly marketing their cloud services, clicking on the cloud button on the website results in a 404 page not found - hmmmmmm. As a loss of access to the cloud would render the product useless I decided that the seeming desperate “cash grab” of ads/cloud promotion combined with the website may be evidence that Kami/YI was in trouble and I should look for a new solution.
Angel - your answer to the OP is terrible and to me further evidence that there is an issue with Kami/YI, the route that your company has taken is wrong and you have lost respect however I will take this as a hint and find another provider so I am glad I have already started this process and only have 5 cameras to throw away.
Add to this that as of writing no camera is accessible on the app as neither yi/kami can connect to them and with everything combined I pretty much have my answer!
To me, it looks like the company is slowly dying… ads popping up… products disappearing one by one… copy paste google translate answers over and over…

I had to reinstall the app on a new phone and now I have to watch 4 ads before it’ll take me to my camera. Wtf is the point of have cameras for safety if you have to watch 4 ads before you can check on your house, pets, children, front door etc???
We paid for these cameras and looks like several of them for many of these folks here (I have 12!) and we have SD cards in ALL of them we do t need or want your subscription… but after we spend our money on these cameras because of the SD card option you decide to make ads mandatory or pay for ad free??? Makes sense on a streaming app NOT for an electronic we paid for and choose to use our own SD cards … BS and you probably will have a class action claim soon.
Agreed! I paid for these cameras, I did NOT pay to look at ads before I can check the camera and see is someone is breaking into my house!
I sent an email to complain last week and got no response! I swear I’m going to sell these cameras and buy something, anything that isn’t associated with YI! Asking about cloud service is bad enough but these ads are completely unacceptable!

If I wanted to subscribe and pay more, I wouldn’t be doing it with these horrible unreliable cameras. I have 5 of them and when I bought them the choice was subscription or memory card and the only reason, I bought them was because I didn’t need a subscription. UP to now years later I never had to deal with ads before i could look to see who set of the camera. I don’t even get one I get three ads before I can look at the live. If this would have happened when I first bought them, I would have returned them. What you guys are doing should be illegal! It’s like breaking a contract and false advertisement since we can’t return them so many years later. A few months ago I bought a Ring camera and yes, I do pay them a subscription because their cameras are better. Only reason I bought the Yi was because I didn’t need a subscription.
Absolutely agree with you, I needed emergency open camera and I couldn’t, because advert was on my, so I closed app open again, another advert, I had to do 5 time, and I paid for yi sistem and I have memory cards, why would I have to purchase something else? Why do i have save everything online, I don’t want to, it’s safer in my computer or my memory drive,

I had to create an account just to reply to this topic, which normally I would never do!! I agree 100% what is going on? Not only do you need to sift through an ad when you open the app, you have to wait for another ad to view an event. And that happens for each event!! An ad for each event you want to view. I have no sub, I have five cameras, all have cards, and I’m paralyzed by an onslaught of ads. Kami is choking us out. Can I ask, what do you all recommend as a replacement camera since I can’t continue to use a product, meant for safety and security, that takes me valuable time to even open. I’m done. Shame on Kami. Bad move.
That’s the grift. Choke you out with ads, then up charge you to get an ad free sub. Screw that!
There are more ads now than when this crap started! Now all 6 of my cameras aren’t working properly and I’ve had zero contact from support despite two emails.
I gotta get new cameras from another manufacturer!
I’m really pissed at this. I have 11 cameras with SD cards and I bought them because they did not have ads or required subscriptions. Someone mentioned to me that there is a class action lawsuit being filed so I’ll wait for that too. In the meantime I want to replace all my cameras with another brand that does not have ads or subscriptions because this is absolutely unscrupulous and I cannot support a company that does this. I would rather spend $500 on new cameras than to pay this company for a subscription. Any ideas?
